Lipitor is a cholesterol-lowering drugs blocked the production of cholesterol (a type of fat) in the body.
Lipitor reduces low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and total cholesterol in the blood. Lower your cholesterol may help prevent heart disease and hardening of the arteries, conditions, myocardial infarction, stroke and vascular disease.
Lipitor is used to treat high cholesterol. Lipitor is also used for the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, heart or other complications in people with cardiovascular disease or type 2 diabetes.
In rare cases, Lipitor can lead to a condition that results from the breakdown of muscular tissue. This condition can be kidney failure. Call your doctor at once if you inexplicable pain or tenderness, muscle weakness, fever or flu symptoms and dark urine. These drugs can cause birth defects in an unborn baby. Do not use if you are pregnant. Use an effective form of birth control, and inform your doctor if you are pregnant during treatment. Do not take Lipitor, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have liver disease.
Before taking Lipitor, tell your doctor if you have diabetes, less thyroid, kidney disease, a disorder in the muscle, blood or an error:
Avoid eating foods high in fat or cholesterol. Lipitor is not as effective to reduce your cholesterol if you do not lower the cholesterol level of a regime.
Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Lipitor. Alcohol may triglycerides, and can also damage your liver during treatment with Lipitor.
Perhaps there are other drugs may interact with Lipitor. Tell your doctor about all devices and OTC drugs you use. These include vitamins, minerals, products made from plants, drugs and other doctors. Fails to start with a new drug to say, without talking to your doctor.
